The Las Colinas Symphony presents
The Lone Star Youth Orchestra
Meet Our Conductor
Maestro Marvin Garduno is in his second season at the helm this fall for LSYO’s 27th season.
Mr. Garduno is the Director of Orchestras at the prestigious Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy, where he has taught since 2017. A Dallas native, Mr. Garduno attended Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelors and Masters in Music Education.
His orchestra consistently achieves superior ratings at UIL contests, and his students have been invited to compete at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival. In an effort to teach beyond the classroom, Mr. Garduno practices a flipped classroom approach by creating accessible content for music educators and aspiring musicians that helps them be better prepared for their musical adventure.
The Lone Star Youth Orchestra (LSYO) provides young, advanced level instrumentalists in the Metroplex area the opportunity to supplement and enhance their music education through opportunities to learn symphonic literature and high quality orchestral and ensemble training. Membership, by audition, in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is open to middle school and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players.
Founded in 1999, the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is currently under the direction of Maestro Marvin Garduno. Rehearsals take place weekly, on Wednesday, at the Irving Arts Center from 6:30-9:00 p.m., including a snack break! The LSYO presents multiple concerts per year to the public at Carpenter Hall in the Irving Arts Center.
