Conversations with Music for Schools

Conversations With Music provides participatory concerts to upper elementary students in surrounding school districts with the goal of creating interest in school arts programs as students approach middle school.

A small ensemble entertains students by performing many popular music selections and classical music standards. Students experience classical repertoire from each of the four major musical periods, as well as interact with musicians to guess each of our popular music selections. Students glean information on the symphony orchestra, musical eras, how sound is made, and have the opportunity to reflect during our Q&A session.

Conversations with Music for Retirement Communities

The LCSO provides free educational and interactive concerts to the local health-care community through our Conversations With Music program. The LCSO musicians accompany a staff member to various assisted-living facilities, retirement communities, and hospitals with the goal of bringing classical music to those who may otherwise be unable to attend symphony concerts. Participants experience a live music performance featuring both classical and popular music selections. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to interact with musicians through educational program notes and dialogue about classical music, composers, repertoire, and life as a classical musician today.
